Would you like to have a child, but it doesn't work out naturally? The MVZ Kinderwunschzentrum Wuppertal offers you targeted diagnostics and individual treatment to make your dream of having your own family come true. Please arrange a consultation.
An unfulfilled desire to have children can be very stressful for those affected. Despite this, many people shy away from contacting a fertility centre - out of shame or uncertainty. We would like to encourage you to take the step. A personalised diagnosis will quickly provide clarity about possible causes and treatment options. Invasive procedures such as artificial insemination are not always necessary. Sometimes hormone therapy is enough to achieve the desired pregnancy.
Our services
Modern diagnostics, social freezing and artificial fertilization
The cooperation of our Wuppertal ferility center with our Dortmund fertility center allows us to offer modern modalities, personalized treatment protocols, and comprehensive personal care and counseling. Our fertility treatments range from hormone therapy to artificial fertlization and add-on treatments to increase the likelihood of a successful pregnancy outcome.
Successful fertility treatment is founded first and foremost on accurate diagnosis. We therefore offer a wide range of diagnostic modalities, including detailed medical history, cycle monitoring, laboratory studies, fallopian tube patency studies, hysteroscopy, chromosome analysis, and semen analysis. The details of each case determine which diagnostic evaluation tools will be employed.
One common cause of infertility is an irregular menstrual cycle. Hormone treatment can often overcome this problem. For this treatment, hormones are administered in tablet form or by self-injection. Planned in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) also require ovarian stimulation.
Intrauterine insemination is an option whenever the sperm quality is only slightly impaired. Here, the sperm obtained from a male semen sample are prepared in the laboratory and then transferred directly into the uterine cavity via a thin catheter. This modality can also be employed with donor sperm (donor insemination) at our Wuppertal fertility center.
In vitro fertilization is a type of artificial fertilization performed outside the female body. After successful ovarian stimulation and follicle puncture (harvesting of mature eggs), the egg is fertilized in the laboratory. After two to five days, one or two embryos are transferred. The process resembles ICSI, except in the latter case a specific sperm is injected directly into the egg.
If you would like to postpone parenthood until a later or are undergoing teratogenic treatment, you may have your eggs and sperm cryopreserved to extend or maintain your fertility. It is advisable not to wait too long to cryopreserve your eggs for social reasons (social freezing), since the probability of genetic material disorders increases with maternal age.
Genetic preimplantation diagnostics (PID) allows for genetic screening of the embryo prior to implantation. This procedure is indicated in parents with known hereditary disorders or a risk of passing on a genetic defect to the child. Moreover, our center offers add-ons such as EmbryoGlue® and Calcium Ionophor to increase the likelihood of pregnancy.

Frequently asked questions & answers about fertility treatment
When can I contact the Fertility Centre Wuppertal?
You can turn to us with confidence if, despite regular sexual intercourse at the time of your fertile days, you have not yet become pregnant after 12 months. For patients aged 35 and over, we recommend contacting us after 6 months due to the age-related decline in fertility. You can find out more about the right time for intercourse here. We also enable people to preserve their fertility by means of cryopreservation for medical and social reasons.
What does fertility treatment in Wuppertal cost?
The costs depend on various factors, including the treatment method and the number of treatment cycles. On average, the cost of a single insemination is around €300. For an additional ovarian treatment, you can expect costs of around €1,000. IVF costs around €3,000 and ICSI around €4,000. Married heterosexual couples between the ages of 25 and 40 (woman) or 25 and 50 (man) can apply to their health insurance provider for 50% of the costs to be covered. You can find more information on the costs and possible cost coverage here.
How long does the treatment at the fertility clinic in Wuppertal take?
A complete IVF or ICSI cycle takes approx. 4 to 6 weeks. If no pregnancy has occurred after this, further treatment cycles are required. In the case of difficult conditions or complex diagnostics, you should generally expect the treatment to take a little longer. We will be happy to inform you in a personal consultation about the specific course of your individual fertility treatment and the expected duration of treatment. If you would like your health insurance to cover the costs, you should endeavour to clarify the costs at an early stage in order to avoid delays.
Who does the Fertility Centre Wuppertal treat?
We treat married heterosexual and married lesbian couples at the Fertility Centre MVZ Wuppertal, as well as at our other locations in North Rhine-Westphalia: Siegen and Dortmund. As we want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to fulfil their wish of having their own child, we also offer donor sperm treatments for married couples.
Is fertility treatment possible over 40?
Yes, fertility treatments over 40 are generally possible with us. However, you should be aware that the chances of successful treatment at this age are significantly lower than in your early 30s, which is why women in this age range should not wait too long before undergoing treatment. It is best to make an appointment now and we will discuss the specific procedure in detail in person.
